Browsing through performance parts, there are ZERO chips, or exhaust systems for the 12V 2.8 B5 A4.
Fuckety Fuck Fuck Fuck FUCK.
Dammit, dammit, dammit.
It's something to do with a non-programmable Hitachi Ecu or something.

I know a guy good with computers maybe he could write some software.

Motodyne (I believe) used to make some stuff but they went out of biz over 10 years ago and it was stupid expensive. If you wanted to mod should have got the 1.8t because the 30v isn't much better in that dept, unless you wanna drop $5k+ on a properly fitted and tuned supercharger set up.
You can have an exhaust fabbed up pretty reasonable at any reputable exhaust shop though.

Solved

Best thing to do is make it handle better with suspension mods and look better.

You would get a tiny power increase out of it, anyway. Just sell and get a 1.8T.

Also maybe look for parts on the 80/90s. I'm 99% sure they had a similar if not the same 12v 2.8 V6

Yeah, I looked at the 1.8T for a bit, I had a 2.0T on my B7 and wanted some sort of change. I don't need more power, but more sound would be quite nice.
It does seem like the engine is completely not moddable though, I guess I could get some K&N goodies, but those are pricey.

Haha, If only that was possible.
The Ecu is set in stone, nothing can happen to it. Which sucks, but I don't really need a racecar.

if it were that easy it would be on sale already.

I bought it a couple of weeks ago. Coming from a slightly modified B7. More power would be nice, but I don't really need it.

How about one of these?

Is there any way to swap or splice in one of the other 2.8 ECUs? I know the later ones, especially VW's, responded pretty well to tuning.

Haha, I could use a Dogeocharger. Then again, there are no turbo kits. Only SC kits and those are expensive as fuck.
Expensive as fuck as in, nearly double what I payed for the car.
![]() 05/13/2014 at 17:36 |

Make your own turbo kit.

Great point! I'll try looking into that.

Nobody makes performance parts for my car either :P
Thus why a sawzall and duct tape are my best friend.

And PES is trash anyway. You literally be better strapping a trash can to the intake manifold.
![]() 05/13/2014 at 17:39 |

But how do you tune it? The ECU is what holds the 12v back because it is untuneable. By the time you go wide band and add maestro you may as well have bought a car with a turbo already on it.

This 2.8 isn't a VR6 though so not quite apple to apples. The later 2.8 V6s were 30v rather than 12 as well

Haha, They sound mean as hell. But several other Opponauts have told me that they don't really add much power.
You know what. For $4,000 less I think I will strap a trash can to the intake manifold.

Yeah adding the SC would barely get you to where a chipped 2.0t would be, if that

I give that a 0.000001% chance of being possible. Even if it was, chipping a 30V 2.8 yields no noticeable performance gain.
